Gov. Haley, State Chiefs Honor S.C. Fallen Firefighters

Gov. HaleyGovernor Nikki Haley and LLR Director Catherine Templeton joined the S.C. State Association of Fire Chiefs and other members of the state's fire service April 19, 2011, in remembering four firefighters who died serving their communities.

Each year, the Chiefs Association holds a memorial service at the S.C. Fallen Firefighters Memorial, housed on the grounds of the S.C. Fire Academy, 141 Monticello Trail, Columbia.

The firefighters whose names were added to the memorial are:

  • Charles Flintom, Pelham-Batesville Fire Department in Greenville and Spartanburg counties.
  • Chance Zobel, Columbia Fire Department.
  • Dillon Denton, Van Wyck Fire Department in Lancaster County.
  • Charles LaMott, West Columbia Fire Department, who died Sept. 1, 1967.
