9701 Haz Mat (HAZWOPER) Operations
Scope and Content: This program
is for haz-mat responders who have "the
responsibility of protecting nearby persons, property, or the environment"
by acting in a defensive manner at a hazardous materials incident. OSHA defines
a defensive action as the responder NOT being expected to come in contact with
the product. This class meets the cognitive and practical skills competencies
required at the operations level.
Test: Written test

9173 Haz Mat
(HAZWOPER) Operations Annual Refresher
Scope and Content: This course is
designed to meet the operations level refresher training requirements as
required by OSHA 1910.120. This course is a summary of the Operations Level
Program course and is an enhancement of that training. Topics include ICS, protective
equipment, physical and properties, containment and decontamination operations
relative to defensive operations only.
Test: Written and practical skills test
Skill/Training Level: Meets OSHA 1910.120 requirements or operations level
refresher training
Length: 1 day of classroom instruction and field exercises.
Prerequisite: Completion of Operations level training (9701 or equivalent)
Student Enrollment: 15 minimum / 20 maximum

9702 Haz Mat
(HAZWOPER) Technician
Scope and Content: This course is
designed to provide a basis for hazardous materials responders at the
technician level in compliance with OSHA 1910.120. The technician level program
is geared to introduce the students to equipment encountered in offensive
response tactics. Through hands-on scenarios and drills, students will
demonstrate proficiency in areas such as hazard awareness, protective clothing,
decontamination procedures, direct reading instruments and spill and leak
control operations.
Test: Written and practical skills test
Skill/Training Level: OSHA 1910.120 Technician Level Training
Length: 5 days of instruction and field exercises
Prerequisite: SCBA Training
Student Enrollment: 15 minimum / 20 maximum

(HAZWOPER) Technician Annual Refresher
Scope and Content: This course
provides the hazardous materials technician with the annual training required
to maintain skills for offensive response tactics. Topics include containment
and confinement operations, decontamination exercises, Level-A and B dress-out
and use of air monitoring instruments.
Test: Written and practical skills test
Skill/Training Level: Meets OSHA 1910.120 requirements for Technician level
refresher training.
Length: 2 days of instruction and field exercises
Prerequisite: Hazardous Materials Technician (9702 or equivalent)

9187 Chlorine Response Specialist
Scope and Content: This course
covers the associated physical and chemical hazards of chlorine and the
offensive control tactics for Haz-Mat teams dealing
with a chlorine release. Students will learn, practice and each be evaluated on
the application of chlorine control kits for 100- and 150-pound cylinders,
one-ton cylinders and rail cars. Successful completion of written and practical
exams is required for course credit.

refresher training.

Prerequisite: Haz-mat technician qualified (Course
9172 or equivalent)
